What spaces are available for receptions and what are the capacities?


*2021 Update: New York State has imposed a social gathering limit of 50 Guests, as well as masking and social distancing guidelines; Thyme Events and Old Westbury Gardens are strictly adhering to these guidelines. Therefore, at this time we will not be considering receptions greater than 50 guests. We will update social gathering limits & restrictions if/when new information becomes available


The Orchard Hill House is a historic 19th century farmhouse with a variety of charming rooms.  Orchard Hill House can accommodate up to 60 guests indoors (utilizing multiple rooms)

for seated events and up to 80 for indoor cocktail-style receptions. The house can accommodate weddings/private events of up to 140 guests outdoors with addition of a tent.

The Barn is available for private events/weddings and can accommodate up to 80 indoors

(one large space) for buffet dinners and more for cocktail-style receptions.

NOTE: The Westbury House (The Mansion) is not available for wedding receptions

or non-corporate events. If booking a ceremony & reception with us, you will be able to

purchase a photography permit, to allow you to take photos at the Westbury House/Mansion

and on the grounds.   


Is there a site fee to rent the space?

Additional fees for placing a tent on property. 


How much does it cost to host a reception?

  • Food & Beverage: $125-$250 per person ... this may vary, depending on menu style/options,     bar options, cocktail hour, timing, etc. Please inquire for daytime events, ending before 5pm.

  • Rentals: Thyme Events will handle all the arrangements for essentials/rentals, such as tables/chairs, linens, utensils, glassware, china, etc. Formal rentals typically range from approx. $18-$38pp and varies depending on options chosen.


  • Staff: Servers/bartenders/etc typically start at $38 per hour, and there is a 5 hour minimum. 

  • Tents: There are various tent options available, from casual pole tents designed simply to provide cover from sun/rain, to formal tents with siding, dance floors, lighting, a/c and/or heaters

       ... pricing will vary depending on tent size & style. 

  • Taxes & Gratuity are additional


Where can I view sample menus?

Menus are examples, designed to show styles of menu we may offer, including cocktail hour options. Thyme Events will work closely with you to customize a menu fit your personal vision!


Can I bring my own food/liquor/caterer?


Old Westbury Gardens does not permit outside caterers or BYOB.


Can I have my wedding ceremony before my reception? 


The Garden of Appreciation is available for ceremonies, as well as Orchard Hill House or The Barn.

Does Thyme Events provide decorations, music, photography, flowers, etc?


While we do not offer these services we are happy to recommend reputable local vendors. 


How far in advance can I book?


Old Westbury Gardens does not typically book more than 12 months in advance. 


How is Old Westbury Gardens and Thyme Events handling COVID-19 concerns?


Old Westbury Gardens and Thyme Events are complying with all state and local mandates,

including limiting gatherings for 2021 to no more than 50 guests and adhering to all mask and social distancing guidelines. As we do not know what the future will bring, we will update information when/if it becomes available.

Should you choose to book an event with us, please be aware that we require non-refundable deposits. Your deposit enables us to start planning your event, securing vendors, and block out

the date to other interested parties. Although deposits are non-refundable, should state/local mandates change, we will work closely with clients to accommodate new dates and/or changes

in guest counts as deemed necessary. 


Can I schedule a site visit / tour?


As Orchard Hill House and the The Barn are not open to the public, private tours of one or

both spaces must be arranged through Thyme Events. Please contact us and provide

your requested date/time (month/day/date(s), start time; daytime/evening), the estimated number

of guests you are expecting, as well as which space(s) you are interested in, and we will reach out

to discuss your event in detail.
